My first Artesia Bulldog Balloon Rally was in 1998. As you can see the name has changed. The last few years the city has combined a community event with the balloon rally. In the park there are vendors and a stage with several bands scheduled throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. Flying in Artesia is relaxing since there are numerous places to land in all directions. My sponsor of the last few years probably more like 5 or more years has been Stylish Stitches. The owner is so helpful. He does business with the Border Patrol Academy and knows many of the instructors. I have a few instructors come back most years and some students. A wonderful group of people. Those with family present bring them and make it a family outing. I have a few friends locally and they too come out. This last year 2009 a family from Midland, TX who crewed in Alpine came to Artesia to get their last son a ride. So disappointing that the day they came on Sunday we were fogged in.
